Today was the first weigh-in for the contest. I'm down 1.6 pounds this week (whoo!). The number 1.6 excites me, but the percentage does not. That only translates to .67%. That's a number that I don't feel so good about. I'm glad the 1.6 pounds are off because that's a pretty decent number for my body to pull in a week, since I always lose weight dreadfully slowly. I'm not sure how L did... I haven't heard back from her yet, but I'll post again who won this week. Pretty sure it's not me, but we'll see.
I didn't get ANY of my workouts in this crazy week. I HAVE to make that change! If I lost 1.6 pounds just by what I've eaten alone this week, imagine what that number could have been if I had been to the gym five days this week. I really need to make a change to my gym habits. I'll need to be in the gym when I go back to work this fall (oh yeah, I FINALLY found a good job!!) because the last thing I want is to get tired so easily and not be able to do a good job at work (this is important because I will be teaching preschool four days a week).
I'm considering doing a jump-start program for my metabolism. It's only five days, and I only get to eat eggs, raspberries, yogurt, spinach, and almonds or almond butter. Apparently, when combined together the right way, these become SuperFoods! which will rid the body of toxins and cause the metabolism to wake up. And yeah, I totally just spelled it SuperFoods! with an exclamation point and capital letters because it makes it look all superhero-y. I suspect that I'll be tired of the same meals after five days, but I actually like all five of those foods, so maybe it won't be too bad. It's only for five days. Bonus: I can still have a cup of coffee in the morning :-)
I know that my blog is called Triathlon Madness. And I realize that I haven't actually blogged about triathlon in a while. I just want to make it clear that I haven't given up my triathlon goal. I think that I'll be more successful if I can drop some of this weight before I begin any serious training. It will only condition me more and I'll become faster when I'm not dragging around extra weight. I am still set on finishing a triathlon. I'm just not ready to do it next month or anything.
I expect to be able to get in some good weight loss this weekend. I'll be camping with my sister and two of my very dear friends, and we plan to do some hiking and geocaching while we're there. So, A.) That's a lot of walking around, and B.) It's going to be hot and we're going to do a lot of sweating. So hopefully some poundage will be shed. I'll just have to stay on top of hydration, though.
