So I've decided what I want for my birthday. I always have a hard time coming up with a birthday list or a Christmas list because there's really nothing that I absolutely NEED. But this year for my birthday I decided (very early on... my birthday isn't until April) that I want a jogging stroller that will convert to a bike trailer. I like getting my workouts outside when the weather is nice, but one of the things that has limited me is the fact that I can't take Taryn with me when I go. I tried pushing her in a regular stroller once, and it didn't go too well. Let's face it, a regular travel system stroller just isn't made for running. And I wouldn't have thought that it made a difference until I tried to do it.
I want a jogging stroller/bike trailer for two reasons. One: I will be able to run/bike in nice weather at any time of the day because I won't have to leave the munchkin at home. If Charlie isn't home, she'll be able to just come with me. Two: She'll be able to come with me and I can expose her to a healthy active lifestyle early on. If it's something she's always done, maybe she won't have to relearn it later in life. But let me just vent for a minute and say AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!! $600 for a decent convertible stroller!? You've got to be kidding me! What normal person can really afford that!? If obesity is such a problem in America, why don't people who manufacture these things lower the price a little? Then more people would buy the product and there will be more exercising going on. There are parents out there who are limited as to when they can exercise because they have babies who can't be left home alone. A piece of gear like this virtually eliminates those limits, yet manufacturers keep the prices up so high that most of us can't purchase it!
That's my rant for the day. Time to go search for convertible jogging strollers on Craigslist :-)

That's a very good point. They really should tone it down a little.
ReplyDeleteJeana, maybe you could find a "gently used" one on Ebay.
