Post-Thanksgiving

I'm sad to say that after this weekend, I'm going to have to give up most of the Thanksgiving leftovers! I have to get back on track, since Lindsey has talked me into doing a 15k at the end of January. I'll need to be serious about training for it and that means I need to be serious about getting the right nutrition. It sucks, but that's life :-) I know that if I put my mind to it, I can accomplish it. I've also decided to sign up for a triathlon at the end of May or early June. I'm not sure which one I'm going to do yet, but I've narrowed it down to two. They're only tri-sprints, so it's not like I'm doing a whole tri, just a mini one. The two course I've narrowed it down to have you swimming less than half a kilometer, biking somewhere around 20 kilometers, and running about 2 kilometers. I need to figure out what that all translates to in miles, since that's how I think, but I'm pretty sure that's not too bad. What will be hard will be training to do it all at once and having a fast transition time between each leg of the race. I'll need to tune up the bike, and find membership to a natatorium somewhere nearby since I'll have to start training over the winter and swimming outside in January sounds like a bad idea :-) I'm even more excited that my sister is interested in doing it with me as long as the running isn't much and the bike path is off-road! Allison is also interested, but since the race falls so close to graduation, I think that she'll end up not able to do it. But I'm really super-excited to complete a tri with my sister! I can't wait to get started training for that with her!

I'm still working out and starting tomorrow, I'll be back in the nutrition game. Since Thanksgiving, I have just been eating holiday food guilt-free for a couple of days, but I won't be able to do that anymore after today. I'll really need to pay attention to what goes in my mouth.

Turkey Trot update: My official results posted on the website. I placed 414 out of 449 with a time of 52:52 and an average pace of 17:03 according to my timing chip. According to my phone, my average pace was 16:54, and I like that better, even though the difference isn't huge. :-) 16:54 would make my fastest pace ever! Actually, even if I ran 17:03, that's still faster than anything else I've run. I am happy to say that I beat my previous 5k time, only by about a minute but it counts! It's not a lot, but it is an improvement. I'm looking forward to building endurance and improving my time for the next race.
