So far this week, I've done alright. The scale is showing me results, finally, although they're not exactly happening the way they should. I did lose 2 1/2 pounds this week, but that's down from the big number that it gave me on Monday. So I'm pretty much back at square one, but I figure if I can duplicate the menu from this week and have the same stuff next week, I should see more results. Right??
I only made it out to run twice this week. The heat has been completely oppressive. I'm not going to repeat this week. It's time to move on. Next week, I will be running at level 5, which begins by alternating 5 minutes of running with 3 minutes of walking. The second day, I'm supposed to alternate 8 minutes of running with 5 minutes of walking, and the third day I'm supposed to be able to run for twenty minutes without stopping. I think the way to tackle this is to do each day twice, before moving to the next day. It sounds like a lot, but if I run three times a week and not skip any days like I did this week, I should (hopefully) be able to do it.
I've been issued a three mile challenge. Tomorrow, I'm going to meet up with my friend L and we're going to hit the gym (hooray for the A/C!) and just run to see how far I can go. Three miles is what she thinks I can do. I think she's crazy. Right now, I'm only running about a mile and a half, so this would double my distance. She did say that I could run/walk it, so I'll use the intervals for day one of level 5. But she seems to think I need a push forward, and if I'm honest with myself, she's right. I'm excited to see how far I get, and praying that there are two treadmills open in the gym tomorrow. I really don't want to run in this heat! But just in case, I'll be pumping the water in as quickly as I can take it. My biggest risk with the three miles is not injury, but dehydration. I have been drinking more water, but with the temperature outside at 105 degrees every day, it's just going to take a lot more liquid than normal to get the job done, and I have a feeling that I'm still not getting enough of it. I'm really working on that (again) this week. I'll post again after the three mile challenge!
