New Update

It's probably past time that I post an update, so let me see..... This is week 2 of the 5k challenge. It's getting easier, with the exception of soreness. I guess around Friday of last week, I started having pain in my calves and a little bit in m shins. Pretty much anything below the knee. I took Saturday and Sunday off (cause I'm only supposed to run 3 times a week) and went back to it on Monday. The pain was a little worse, but not unbearable, but by the time I finished my run this morning, I was hobbling just a little bit! It hurts so bad. I guess that's the tradeoff for easier breathing. I've been slacking off on the yoga, but I did do it last night and I think that helps stretch those muscles out a little more. I noticed that I didn't hurt as badly last night as I did throughout the day and I really think that's due to the yoga. I guess I'll have to make sure I'm yoga-ing every single night, getting enough protein, and I guess I'll need to start using ice and heat on those muscles.

So back to Monday... I put off my normal morning workout so that Allison and I could run with Lindsey that night. We had a GREAT workout! It was a little extra humid, but not too hot and there was a nice breeze. And it was nice to change up the routine. I felt great by the time we finished. On Friday, we're going to get fitted for good running shoes. Supposedly, shoes are everything so having the right ones at the right size should minimize chances for injury :-)

Last week, I certainly didn't eat the way that I should, but so far this week I've only had one minor (okay, it was pretty major) slip up. As of Monday (my check-in day) the scale said 234.6, which is up a little from my lowest point last week, but still lower than my official check-in. This is probably because I need to drink more water. The hardest part about this whole thing is making sure I drink enough water on my off days. I guess I need to make double sure that I do this because it will really make the entire thing easier.

More to come soon :-)
